network connections to .net application

Is it possible to monitor and limit the number of concurrent users that can
run a .net application from a server?

Can you be more specific about what you mean by "run a .NET application
from a server"? There are many different models out there and it's hard to
pin down which one you mean.

I am tring to address the situation were an application is installed on the
server but run from a multiple workstations via a shortcut that points at
the exe on the server. I'm not sure if this is what your looking for not.

Dennis,

It is. Unfortunately, in this situation, you can not determine in your
code how many active instances you have running. What you could do is have
each application connect with another application, indicating when it starts
up and when it releases. You could probably create a very elegant solution
with remoting (because you could assign leases) and then fail the operation
if you can't acquire a lease.
