I am trying to hook up my computer to the cable internet
connection we have & I am looking at the Properties for
my Local Area Connection, and it shows "Connect using:",
but below that it doesn't show the internet protocol
options or anything, not even the install & uninstall
buttons--instead it shows "adaptor is part of a network
bridge"...

What does this mean and how do I get it to show the other
information?

If you have two adapters in your computer, you can make the two into a bridge.
If the bridge is necessary, it provides a good solution. If it's not, it just
makes trouble.

Start by deleting the bridge.

Then post the ipconfig information for your computer:
Start - Run - "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in
Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.

And please learn to munge your email address properly, to keep yourself a bit
safer.

Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.
