Network Cable "Unplugged"

I keep getting a bubble that pops up in the system tray
(lower right) that says the network cable is unplugged.
The cable is plugged in and i'm accessing the net just
fine. Does anyone know why this pops up, when clearly
there are no cables unplugged??

Hello,

You could have a cable that is shorting and needs to be replaced or it could
be there is a problem with the card itself. Have you tried a new Cat-5
cable? Did it duplicate the result?

Computers are Not People you can Not take the Error Statements literally.
Cables unplugged might mean that you do not have a valid connection due to
an NIC failure or any other basic Network related hardware and Not
necessarily Bad/Unplugged Cable per-ce.

The operating system could be turning off the network card to save
power. Disable the power saving option in the network card's
properties, as shown here, even if you have a different network card
than mentioned in the article:
