Eric

Just got a brand new machine. LAN status says the cable
is unplugged, even though it is plugged in. I unplug and
put the SAME cable in my laptop, but no problems.

Device manager says no problems with the NIC. Turned off
Auto power on the device. Any suggestions??

Hi.

Computers are Not People you can Not take the Error Statements literally.

Bad Cable might mean that you do not have a valid connection due to variety
of failures and Not necessarily Bad Cable per-ce.

First make sure that your Network is configured correctly.

Installing Network: http://www.ezlan.net/installing.html

If it is, there is a possibility that the NIC is faulty or and not
configured correctly even if Windows System Properties reports that every
thing is all right.

Get the most recent drivers and try to use the NIC properties to update the
drivers.
