When you monitor the adapter speed in Windows 98, the display is in real
numbers. Which gives you useful information.

In XP's networking tab in Task Manager, the display is in percent. Now, is
that useless or what! Is the display 100% of 10, or 100% of 1000? I can
find no way of knowing.

1. Does anyone know of a way to change the display from percent to some
meaningful numbers?

2. Alternatively, can anyone recomment a freeware or shareware program that
will display the adapter's throughput in actual bytes transmitted?

Thanks.

Hi, Mark,

It looks like your post was incompletely entered. It must be the wonderful
world of computers. :-)

You can display a column that tells you the speed of the connection, but
this is not necessarily indicative of how much throughput you are getting.
Windows system monitor cannot be misinterpreted on this issue.

But as I write this reply, it occurs to me how I might be able to test XP's
display. So, off I go to try out my idea.

Ah, the test idea didn't work. So, still looking for something that will
tell me the actual numbers, not a percent.
