For several of my favorites, (in internet explorer), they display beside a
netscape icon. I don't understand this. I don't have netscape installed on
this computer and never have. Can someone explain this behaviour. The
links work ... it's just that I'm mystified by the netscape icon.
Thanks.

It's the web site configuration which causes that. It's nothing you've
done, and there's nothing you can do to change it.

Thanks for the response Gary.
Some of the sites are those that I created (in Frontpage). Does that make a
difference.

Gary,
I figured it out. Something in your comment triggered something in me to
check the properties of the links in my favorites. I was able to change the
icon. Mystery solved (well ... kind-a).

I did the same thing with some of my links, but I'm not sure where the
Netscape icon originally came from. I had assumed that it was located
somwehere on the web site where the browser could pick it up. A quick
scan thorugh my favorites turned up four links with Netscape icons. None
of the sites have anything to do with Netscape.

Does View Source on them show a reference to the icon's URL?

Also each time they are shown I think the TIF viewer may show
a reference to them (e.g. in case they have been renamed).
Otherwise you could try using FileMon to show you where the
reference is coming from. E.g. as Diana mentioned if they are
being set by the Favorites Properties dialog they could be coming
as references to a local file.

Do you have a sample link to share if neither is the case?

Try this one and see how it behaves for you. When I added it to my
Favorites, the Netscape icon was immediately associated. Of course, I
could get rid of it by flushing the TIF, but it would just reappear the
next time I visit the site.

Gary, did I miss something ... did you plan to send a site. I was able to
fix the icon problem for existing sites, but I'm sure it'll show up again.
Thanks for your help.
