Tere

I have a Netscape account that I'd like to add to my
Outlook email manager. I had no problem adding the
Hotmail account, but the Netscape account won't take. I
click on "Add new account" then click on "IMAP" (which
this particular Netscape account claims to use). The
incoming mail server addy is supposed to be
imap.mail.netcenter.com and the outgoing mail server is
supposedly smtp.netscape.net. But it won't work. I
check for mail and it gives me a dialog box error that
says "Error #0x800CCC0E -- (blah blah blah) Error: unable
to connect to server..."

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks! Tere

Diane,
Thanks for your reply. I don't have a firewall and I did
disable my Norton Antivirus Auto Protect that's located in
my taskbar. Is there something else I should do to make
sure Norton isn't nosing where I don't want it to nose for
the moment? And can you tell me how I will know for SURE
that those incoming and outgoing addresses are correct?
Thanks!

are you using a firewall or antivirus mail scanner? Try disabling it.

I think the Imap should be .net not .com. Try changing it
and see what happens.

Well, I got a little further with that one! But it still
hangs up. Now it wants me to enter my username (which I
did) and my password (which I also did), but it won't
recognize them. These are correct username and password,
and I can get into my Netscape account through Netscape,
but not through Outlook, using these exact same names.
This is SOOO frustrating! All I wanted to do with I sat
down at 10 this morning is hook up my PDA to sync with
Outlook! Geez!

I wasn't able to connect to imap.mail.netcenter.com, but *was* able to
connect to imap.netscape.net. You might try that address.
