There used to be a great worldwide directory for
NetMeeting with who was online,who was ready to accept
calls which made it easy and fun to make new contacts
around the world. Could someone tell me what happened to
this feature of NetMeeting and is there a substitute or
replacement I am not aware of. Thanks in advance.

Microsoft sponsored these, but they stopped them years ago. They have
even announced NetMeeting is being dropped (which is presumably why it's
buried in Windows XP). Replaced with Messenger and some subsciption
services they offer.
