NetMeeting Question ...

Hi there,
I have a question ... While I am in an audio conference with someone, I get
constant feed back. I can hear myself talk again over my own speakers. We
both have 65k connections.

The microphone is too close to the speakers. If your speaker and mic
are in the same unit, e.g. a laptop, you may have use external
speakers, or use an external mic.

This is exactly as I have it - external mic & speakers. From what you
say, this should not happen? Must my mic be in front of my speakers or
behind?

Open the Volume Controls (Control Panel or Systray icon) and mute the microphone. This setting is for Playback only via your speakers and can cause direct feedback. The Recording setting must still be active/selected.

sorry for coming back to this again. Just something that I cannot figure
out. I hear the feedback even when I use ext mic and ear phones. Does this
mean the other party has to move the mic & speakers?

Wow, this worked. Thanx foryour reply. I also thought that the mic has to
be active for NetMeet to work.
