net use with computer name

Hi
Have user with computer name shed.david. Does this mean he's part of a domain.
Need to use computername with net use to capture lpt2: This fails if i use:
net use lpt2: \\shed.david\printshare or
net use lpt2: \\david\printshare

What happens if you try:

net use lpt2: \\shed\printshare ?

My customer had incorrectly reported the computername as shed.david when it
actually is shed-david. So, of course, it works fine now!!!! Who needs
customers!
