hello all
i am trying to send messages to other machines in the network using the "net send" command. some of the users are able to get the messages (all machines are Windows 2k or Windows XP). others who have internet connection firewall enabled on their lan interface are not able to receive the message. however, these users do not want to turn the entire firewall off. which traffic should i enable to allow the "net send" message to go through? (for windows xp internet firewall

any suggestions greatly appreciated

Tom,

Instructions to disable the Messenger Service is to block port 135 TCP / UDP.
Ergo to enable Messenger Service, open 135 TCP / UDP.

Cheers,

Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.
