I also have a little thing called "winsent" which lets you send to a user or
workgroup

If your network is composed of Windows NT or XP you can use NET SEND
If you have old Windows you can install on them REALPOPUP, which is
compliant. Don't forget to authorize netbios port (135) in firewalls
rules.
