Another question from the insatiable amateur: I installed the .NET
system in order to run a program that required it. I no longer use
the program. Is there a benefit to keeping .NET? Can I safely delete
it? TIA.

..NET is designed to be installed. I doubt it was designed well for
bullet-proof un-install. Unless you are concerned about it, or are
truly short of disk space ... leave it in.
