I need a Microsoft download called Net Framework. I understand that it's a
very large download for my very slow connection. If I can't find this
program on a PC magazine is it possible to download & save the file just so
that I don't have to do it again at some future date when the next reinstall
of XP is done.

Thanks in advance

Direct Download:

Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package

After installation, I'm sure you'll have another question:

What is the ASP.NET Machine Account?

While Mr. Frisch answered your question, I am curious why you need Net
Framework. If your need is to install a commercial application such as
Drive Image 7, you may find the Net Framework update included on the CD.

Net Framework is also used with scripting features of video editing programs
like Vegas which is now marketed under the Sony brand

OK, I was not trying to be exclusive in my reference to Drive Image 7 as
including Net Framework 1.1 on the installation CD-ROM.

According to the following site, Net Framework 1.1 is included on the
installation CD-ROM for Sony Vegas version 5:
