.Net Framework Versions Update Issues

I have a new computer that has .Net Framework 3 and Windows Update keeps
trying to install the service pack for version 1 which, of course, fails. I
hid the update but why doesn't it know what version I have. Makes me wonder
about other updates it says I need.

Someone posted here that this update is really for XP systems and someone at
Microsoft screwed up posting it for Vista. I'm can't confirm this but am
just passing it on for what it's worth.
