Net Framework verses Logging On Screen

Barry

I'm using XP Home on my PC.

Before I downloaded Net Framework from the Windows Update
website the computer would boot to desktop without having
to stop at the 'Log On' via the Windows Log On screen.

After downloading Net Framework I am now required
to 'click' on my name on the Windows Log On screen in
order to proceed with loading to desktop.

I've tried going to Start/Run/'control userpasswords2' and
clearing the box for the 'Users must enter a username and
password to use this computer.' No luck.

I've made sure the Guest Account is 'Off'.

Still getting the Log On screen.

Any ideas out there.

Thanks.

Barry

Hi,

This is a normal reaction to installing that update (did you really need
it?).

Start/run "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes).

Uncheck the box requiring a username and password, click apply/ok and follow
the prompts to set up a default logon.

Hi Barry,

A step further to what you have tried:

1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok.

2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To
Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name
and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.

Add Control UserPasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)
