Hi
M$ has sent me an update for net framework V 2.0, but it won't install
saying
"updates were unable to be successfully installed"
there were two updates, one installed ok, the other didn't/won't
I am unable to get rid of the update notice, even after a re-boot

Anyone know what's wrong & how to fix please?

Who is "M$" and did you request that update?

Note that "Microsoft" will not send you any files unless requested. If
you were installing that software although there was no request, it did
not come from Microsoft and there is a good chance that it was virulent.

I installed net framework 2 the previous day

And you've got an update from Microsoft by email next day? LOL! Note
that all critical updates are available via the Microsoft Update site
and via additional public download links. This applies to the .NET
Framework 2.0 updates (KB917283 and KB922770) as well. Again, Microsoft
does *not* send any updates by mail unless requested from its support.

So if you've got an update file from "Microsoft" by email, that mail was
faked - sent from infested machines spreading spam and viruses by email.
One of the most popular worms spreading virulent "Microsoft Updates" was
"Swen" and it seems to me that you've been fooled successfully!

The update wasn't by email, it was in the same manner I get all
Microsoft updates - A yellow Icon flashes in my task bar telling me
that a Microsoft update has been downloaded & is ready to be installed

If you believe that that I have been fooled into installing a virus
Could you tell me how to remove it please

So you're just a Troll wasting your time and the time of others.
Should have known when reading "M$". EOD&EOT
