I've just been on to automatic updates for XP Pro and it tells me I need
the above update. I've tried to install it but it just hangs. I
downloaded the file from Microsoft and tried to install it again. It
starts to configure the .NET installer and then hangs again. It's just
the install program that hangs, not the computer. It allows you to press
the Cancel button but then sits there and does nothing. Anybody got any
suggestions.

Hi

This is the latest update for .NET Framework via WU. I'm not sure where you
got SP3 from??

"Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 resolves various issues found
after the initial release of .NET Framework 1.1. These include both
security- and non-security-related issues. After you install this item, you
may have to restart your computer. Once you have installed this item, it
cannot be removed.

I got it from the WU site (Automatic Updates). When that didn't work I
did a manual download. The file name is NDP1.0sp3-KB867461-x86-Enu. It
wont run from either.

I am having the same problem with XP Home, got .Net Framework 1.0 off the CD
and SP2. But SP3 won't run from the WU or the manual download. "Common
Language runtime Debugging Services" . Each time I try to run the app. I get
a Different .TMP file with different Process Id and Thread Id #'s but its
always the Common Language Runtime Debugging Services.
