.NET Framework borked my shut down menu

When I installed .NET on my XP Pro box I found that my autologo no
longer worked just right. I had to go thru the Welcome screen first.
That defeated the purpose of my autologon, which was to hit the power
switch and walk away, returning later to find my machine running, my
mail client loaded and all my mail down loaded (i'm on dial-up). So I
turned off the Welcome screen.

Then my shut down options went from the 3 buttons that I liked
(Standby, Shut Down and Restart) to the classic Win2K drop-down menu,
which is more cumbersome to use.

Is it possible to have the 3 button shut down WITH the autologon? Or
are they mutually exclusive?

Hi,

First, re-enable the Welcome screen.

Then, click start/run, type "control userpasswords2" and click ok.

Uncheck the option requiring a username and password. Click apply/ok and
follow the prompts to create the default logon.

Put the Welcome screen back. Then Use TweakUI - one of the XP Powertoys
from (if you have installed XP SP1)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

If you have not installed SP1, the earlier version can be found at
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP

On its Logon page, uncheck 'Show ASPNET on Welcome screen' (leaving just
your username checked to be Shown there)

Allright! Guys, I really thought I had previously gone through those
very steps. I went ahead and did them again, and Shazam! They
worked. All I actually had to do was re-enable the welcome screen.
Anyway, I have my autologon AND 3-button shut down now. Thanks.
