Which software would you recommend for CD copying, Nero
or Easy CD Creator? Which version of the software would
you recommend? I will only use this software for CD
purposes and not DVDs.

Thanks!

Brian

Hi,
I would recommend Nero. I have tried both and I find Nero
more stable and better in all ways. Easy CD Creator
actually messed up my system (XP), so I changed to Nero.

Either one is very good, ECDC is a little easier to use, and if you want to
use packet writing i.e. Drag to Disk, InCD, etc. ECDC is the most stable at
this point and can use both CDRW and CDR media.
What software did the CDRW come bundled with? Usually the hardware will be
most stable with the software vendor that comes bundled with the burner.
My personal preference at this moment for CD copying is ECDC 6. I have had
some coasters trying to copy using the latest version of Nero, but it could
be from the CDR media and burner rather than Nero at fault; as I have not
tried the same hardware/CDR media combination using ECDC 6 for comparison.

And what version were you using? 4 and below are NOT compatible with XP - 5
is, but only if you patch it first. I am using version 6 to burn DVDs and
have had no problems with it. But then again, I also run Nero and switch
between the two frequently.

CD Creator WILL mess up XP if you do not have correct version and
always do custom install and do not install Direct CD

Only when installing version 4.0 is it recommended not to install Direct CD.
Version 5 Direct CD and ECDC version 6 Drag to Disk are both quite stable
and do not cause a reboot when you want to shutdown, that was the reason to
not install DCD on version 4. DCD on version 4 worked great, it just didn't
allow you to shutdown normally.

It is very much a matter of taste, but I think for just that Easy CD
Creator, which has a specific CD copying utility you can load, is the
easier. Be cautious when you install - the version 6 now out tries to
be an enormous suite, install only the Easy CD creator (with copier) and
not the DVD creation, Media Library, Media player and so on
