The Nero SmartStart interface comes
up as a frame and blank (my desktop)
in the middle. What happened?

TIA

Yeah, same here, it does not happen in the 32-bit version of Vista. I just
launch the specific programs that comes with the product from under the
Programs Group for NERO.

Andre:
It is a known bug.
I doesn't happen with normal size screen fonts (96 dpi).
Greater fonts cause that problem which, of course, is Nero's fault.
Carlos

Yeah, its pretty obvious Ahead Nero was not testing on x64. The screen size
of my fonts are at 120 dpi.

A 'work around' is to go to Windows Classic temporarly while you use Nero.
When you're finished just go back to Vista/Aero.

Thank you, that works.

This is also happening with the latest Nero 7 in my 32 bit version of Windows Vista Basic. The entire Nero menu consists of the underlying desktop image. Switching to Windows Classic does indeed work. Also, right-clicking on the Nero icon, clicking on compatibility, and selecting 256 colors works as well--but it's ugly as sin.

I'm using a custom DPI setting as someone else mentioned, so maybe that is indeed the issue.
