need to upgrade from xp home to xp pro-help

Hello, I have to upgrade to xp pro due to a software
problem w/ home. Can I install a full version over home or
does home need to be uninstalled first? I don't want to
buy the upgrade version because I already have a full
version of the pro. Thank-you.
 
Yes, you can do an upgrade (as long as its a retail version of XP Pro.)

When I say 'retail' I mean an actual boxed copy, as opposed to a disk that
came bundled with a computer.

What is the problem? It's unlikely that installing home will fix
a "software problem."

Yes, the Full version will do an upgrade. But be sure you really
have a Full version, not an OEM version, which many people
confuse with the Full version. The OEM version will *not* do an
upgrade, only a clean installation.
 
1. I very much doubt PRO will fix any kind of
"software" problem.

2. IF PRO is already activated, NO. It it's still not
activated, probably. You don't need to uninstall - the
installer knows what to do.

It's much harder to cheat with XP; you need 2000 if you
want to cheat & Pirate stuff.
