I want to clean up the folders and files contained within the "C:\Document
and Settings\my userID\Local Settings\Temorary Internet Files" folder. I
have deleted all the files in that folder but when I right click on the
folder, select Properties it says that there are 50+ folders (many files &
MB) but I can not see these folders. I do have Admin rights and view all
folders option tunrned on but these folders are still not viewable. Disk
Clean up did not help/remove any of these files. Any ideas anout why and
how these folders a hidden and how to get rid of them would be appreciated!!
Thanks!

Hi.

These are protected "system" files & folders & cannot be deleted whe
Windows is running. There are several ways to delete them but Window
recreates them everytime the system boots. This is an easy one to try
open internet explorer >tools > internet options, then click "settings
in the temporary internet files section. In there is a box "Mov
folder", click this then navigate in the tree to where the temporar
internet files folder is & "move" it to the same place it is already
Click ok & windows will then reboot, when everything is running th
existing (full of junk)temp internet files folder will have bee
replaced with a new one. BTW, you cannot open the temp internet file
folder (protected) but you CAN copy it & paste it somewhere else (say
the desktop), you can then open the copy to see what is in there.

Thanks for the info. - Another work around I found was to log in as a
differnent user, ie Admin, then I was able to see all the folders and files
in the other users account plus I was able to delete them.

Thanks!
