Need to require password

My laptop XP pro laptop is connected to a Netgear switch, as well as my Win2K machine. When I use Windows Explorer to see the Entire Network, I can connect to my XP laptop and see the shared directories. Same thing when I look at my Win2K machine from the XP laptop. However, that Win2K machine is requiring a password, which I like. The XP laptop is *not* requiring a password when connecting; and I'm trying to figure out how to require that

Seems simple, but help would be appreciated. FYI, at start-up both machines require username/password, and they're different for the 2 machines. Tnx for any help

Is your login name and password that you use to login to
WinXP exist in one of the user in Win2K machine?
For example:
Win XP = username "abc", password "abc"
in Win 2K under User account username "abc" exist with
the password "abc".

If that's the case, you may want to remove the user from
Win2K, as windows will treat one successful login accross.

Two possibilities on the XP Pro laptop:

1. Disable simple file sharing, which will cause it to validate
network access exactly like Win2K does.

2. Leave simple file sharing enabled and define a password for the
Guest account. Access from another computer will require that
password.
