I recently put in a new hard drive. And I have installed Windows XP again. I
need to put things back together. The Sound device on the motherboard is not
being detected. What do I need to do to get it working? Next, I have to make
a network. I am one of the ones trying to connect to another computer. But
the only thing I need to share is my printer and the internet. When I try to
make a network, it also does file sharing. I don't need that. Is there a way
to share Internet and Printers w/o the file sharing.

It look like you need to load the correct drivers for both your sound card
or sound chip on the motherboard, which you should be able to get from the
manufacturer's web site.

As for the printer issue, this Microsoft KB article may help:

After you re-installed Windows you should install the drivers for your
audio, video, chipset, etc from the CDs you should have received with the
system. Then go to the motherboard manufacturer's web site and download any
and all updates for these same items.
