I have a Windows XP computer connected to my network and I'm trying to
determine how to disconnect it from the network when all I know is computer
name, OS and IP address?

What do you mean by:

"my network"
"disconnect it"
??

If your network is a router (DSL/Cable modem) then you should possibly
configure said router to only allow certain machines - via MAC Address.

Is this connected wirelessly? If so, change the wireless encryption keys.
If you're unsure, change them.

net session \\ComputerName /delete. Be aware that there might be loss
of data if the user has open files.

Bob I,

How would that help? It will just shotdown, reboot the machine...

If the machine is using a router acting as a DHCP server then the IP would still
be fixed to that MAC address for a certain time

Since a shutdown machine is useless to the "user". The User should be
locating you. ;-)
