While there are many good sites online that will help, I am a big fan of
books (don't look at my book; it's not what you want). If I were you, I
would go to the nearest bookstore and browse the PowerPoint section.
Look through a few books to see which ones seem to make the most sense to
you. Everyone is different so what might be best for me might not be
best for you. The Dummies series (such as PowerPoint for Dummies)
usually does a good job with getting people started on some
technology, but I am not familiar with their PowerPoint book, so I don't
know about that one specifically. Good luck, and come back here to ask
questions as you encounter things you can't figure out.

While books and sites are a great reference, there is no better tool that
using the product and checking the HELP file for specific questions you
might have.

The PowerPoint FAQ site will provide you a veritable plethora of knowledge.
Check my signature line below for the link. If you provide us some
specifics on the types of presentations you "might" be required to do, we
might be able to provide some other great site links as well.

Several of the locals have written books that might be just the thing:

http://www.pptfaq.com has a lot of information about PowerPoint but will
probably be overwhelming if you don't quite know what to ask to begin with.
