You think it might be possible that the 2005 entry was there because the
VS2008 uninstall might need it?
I do have something not right because Microsoft Update says I need to
down
load a vs2005 security update that when I say ok it ends with it not
being
installed.
Something still makes it think I still have vs2005.
Do you have any idea what it checks to see if I have vs2005?
In my registry I have a bunch of entries in:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Install/Folder/VisualStudio
8
that points to folders that no longer exist because I have uninstalled
vs2005 long ago.
Think I can delete them?
If I do do I need to backup first or is using a Restore point just as
good.
Thanks

[Kos the VS 2005 information and/or entry in Add/Remove Programs might
be
needed.]

why do you say that?
[Sure hope you never need to uninstall VS 2008.]

Using the reply from Kelly I deleted it and I am not sure I remember
the
name but it was something like:
VS 2005 IDE Extension
I no longer have vs2005 (I have 2008)
I'm not sure if the files are gone but the add/remove entry is gone.
Thanks
And the name of the item would be...?

I have an item in Add/Remove programs that I'd like to delete.
But when I click for it to delete it spends some time and then
can't
do
something and cancels itself and quits.
I don't know the directory that relates to this app.
There nothing in the Start menus that relates.
That is the delete instructions it starts to run must be someplace.
How can I find them?
