Hi, Using MSWord, I need to use MSWord's "find and replace" function to find a word and replace the formatting on only a portion of the word.

I would also like to replace the first letter with an upper-case letter.

I cannot figure out how to replace formatting on ONLY A PORTION of the word I am searching.

This is an issue where I constantly author documents with a brand that has half Arial font and half Times New Roman, Italicized. Also the first letter is upper-case.

Do it in two find/replace operations?

On the second operation it will overwrite the formatting from the first operation unless the second operation only searches for part of the word. The problem with that is the portion I would search for on the second pass is commonly used in many other words (it is the letters "st")

See if you can adapt the following to suit your needs:

Find and replace email with a new formatted email.

Edit>Replace>More

Bound the "e" with tags

Type email in the find what field.Type $$e##mail in the replace with field
and press replace all Type $$e## in the find what fieldType e in the replace
with field and apply format|font|italic formatting.

Please see the reply to your duplicate question in word.pagelayout.
