Need security checklist for new XP-Pro sp1 PC, before connect to Internet

Hi ,

I will be setting up a new PC that has XP-Pro sp1 installed. I'm concerned about having the latest MS Security patche
applied before connecting to the Internet. Also, I plan to install NAV 2004 on the machine, but how can I get the latest virus definitions before connecting to the Internet. Suggestions for the above are needed. Are there any other precautions to protect the machine before connecting to the Internet

install without network connected
turn on built-in firewall
visit Windows Update until all criticals are installed
install your AV software and then get latest updates
configure for WU and AV updates on schedule

You will not catch a virus from connecting to internet if
you do not surf or do any email. Consider general malware
protection (trojan, spyware, etc)
