I'm a great freeware fan and have downloaded a lot of stuff, mostly
good, onto my 70Gb hard drive. Now I'd like to add a second hard
drive. I found a 250Gb Samsung on newegg.com's site - for under a
$100. What I'd like to do is move EVERYthing from the old drive onto
the new one, and then transfer photos and other space-eaters onto the
smaller one. I have an Athlon CPU 2+ GHz and 512mb RAM. Can I do this?
Thanks for your help!

=== you should be able to take the side off your computer, set the new
harddrive as slave (there should be instructions with it) plug it into
the extra connections in your computer , then use a cloning program
(there are free ones if you didn't get one with it)to clone everything
to the new one (be sure to set to clone as bootable) then when it's
done, take the new one out , reset it as master , and replace the old
one with the new one..... =====

To go along with Mike's post, here is a freeware cloning program-

HDClone

Free Edition

Copies smaller disks onto larger to enable you to move or backup a
complete installation.

This program is also included on the "Ultimate Boot CD" which I highly
recommend-
