i need more room "in" my computer, but i dont want to buy new hardware such
as a motherboard or a new processor and what-not. I also dont want to buy any
software, so are there any downloadable programs that any one can suggest
that will help me free up some space on my computer?

Let's stick with the subject line. If you need more RAM, there no
substitute beyond buying more RAM. As for the hard drive:

Well if you are low on disk space, downloading yet another application is
the last thing you want to do. Are you critically low on system resources?
If so do these things first:

Disk Cleanup Utility:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310312

Performance Options Dialogue Box:

Disk Defragmenter:

If you are still critically low on disk space:

Uninstall any programs you will NEVER use again. Uninstall programs that
you use RARELY (make backups first if you do not have original disks).
Delete any data that you NEVER use. Delete any data that you RARELY use
(make external backups first). Do you see a pattern here?

To discover unnecessary programs that start when you boot your computer
(thus using RAM):
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/.../all/proddocs/en-us/snap_defrag.mspx?mfr=true

I am sure that ohters here will have suggestions too. Hope this helps. Mark
