I started a software company early this year. I still work a full time
job at the moment, and the software company runs in the backround. Add
that to the fact I am still learning C#. My business partner is the
real programmer, he is a db guru and has also had a few years .net. I
make the sales and write some of the low level class libraries, he
does the gui and the db stuff.

Be warned, starting your own business takes a lot of work. I barely
have a social life now and my wife hates it. Fortunatley i do still
make tome to go out, and my I hope see's that we are making some
money.

At this stage, most of the money we makes goes back into purchasing
hardware and things like MSDN subscriptions. This stuff isn't cheap,
but it must be bought.

Despite all the negative stuff, it is quite rewarding when you see
your applications running in the real world. I have made some
brilliant sales to large companies, and each day we are getting more
and more interested clients.

Hi!

Yes, I also run a software company along with a full job. It's definately
nice to have the "infrastructure" set up, when somebody wants a piece of
code here and there. Where I live (Denmark), the government are very good at
helping small businesses start up (and get registered for paying VAT).

Only problem is, that I have to pay 60% (yes, sixty) tax by years end, if I
am transfering money from the company to my private account. Then again, I
can deduct all the VAT from hardware and so on, which is not a bad thing.

I used to work with a guy called Anders Borum here in Australia. I
also worked with another Anders but he was from sweeden, cant remember
his last name.

Hello!
I used to work with a guy called Anders Borum here in Australia. I
also worked with another Anders but he was from sweeden, cant remember
his last name.

That was probably not me. The closest I've been to Australia is Bali. My
lastname is, however, quite rare here in scandinavia. Good luck on the
company setup.
