If you can't send an email using Windows Mail, you won't be able to send an
attachment either.

Are you a Yahoo Plus subscriber or is your (e-mail address removed) associated with
your ISP (e.g., Verizon; AT&T)?

I am having the same problem. When I try to send an e-mail, I get the
following message: "The message could not be sent. The authentication setting
might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving
this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read
the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help
determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service
provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'Re: Re: A
tree situation', Account: 'pop.west.cox.net', Server: 'smtp.west.cox.net',
Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 5.1.1 <[email protected]> relaying not
allowed', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number:
0x800CCC79

I have cox and have never had this problem before.

To avoid confusion, please begin a new thread about your specific problems.
State your full Windows version (e.g., Vista x64 SP1; Vista SP2) in your
first post.

You probably don't have the same problem, but you clearly do have your mail
account set up incorrectly.

Contact your mail provider for the correct settings and follow the
directions completely.

You can't send mail on a Yahoo account using a Cox server, and free US Yahoo
accounts don't work work with Windows Mail.

Your problem is not the same.
It looks like you tried to send while using an Internet connection other than
the one provided by Cox. Were you using a laptop away from home?
