NiDHi MoDH

Hi,
I have been using Outlook 2003 for almost three years now and since i
migrated to Vista recently i needed to start using this Windows Mail...
(Which in my opinion is not as powerful as Outlook)
Anyways... My basic question was...I have setup Gmail account in windows
mail... and I want to know is there any way to ask a password in the start
and then only proceed further.. like it was in Outlook -> file -> Data
Management... And here you can specify the password... I understand there we
were restricting the access for the .pst file... but i wanted to knwo whether
something of this sort is possible or not....
(For example... if you want then the excel sheet will open only if the
password matches... otherwise not... I want something of this sort that upon
verifying the user (here I am trying to restrict any unauthorised access to
my Windows Mail cause i want that other people can not access my mails.. ) )

Let me know what can be done in this regards,

If you are used to Outlook, why not move that copy of Outlook 2003
to your Vista machine?

No, you can't password-protect Windows Mail. If you need security,
use a password-protected Windows user login. If other people need to
use the same machine, give them their own user login.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the information.

Can i save the Windows mail locally.. What is mean is, in Outlook there are
..pst files associated for every new acount you create... Can do the same here
in Windows Mail?

Windows Mail does not have an archiving process like Outlook.

To backup email in Windows Mail: File, Export, Messages, Microsoft
Windows Mail, then pick an empty folder on your hard drive.
Then, you can delete the backed-up emails from within the WM mail folders.

However, that hard drive folder is not directly accessible from WM, should
you require access to the backed-up email. The process for re-importing
exported email is quite tedious.
