Need help

i am new to using access. My question is.. at present i am using excel to
develope invoices, quotes etc. Am wondering is it possible to creat a
database of stock, prices etc in access and join with the excel template. So
in doing so once i enter a part number the rest of the information will be
added? Or can i do the whole thing in access? At the moment im entering
information manually then searching for prices etc.. a database would save me
a lot of time.. although im not familiar with access...

I would recommend doing it all in Access (but then I'm much more familiar with
Access than with Excel so I'm biased). Access lends itself very well to this;
in fact, the Northwind sample database which comes with the program is
precisely this (a stock, sales, and pricing application).

Check out the links here, especially Jeff's Database Design 101 links. Access
DOES have a steeper learning curve than Excel, and you will need to "unlearn"
some things which are routine in a spreadsheet but incorrect in a database:
