Ok, I'm trying to install an upgrade for my Laptop, from XP Home to XP Pro. I get to a certain point when I'm told that a file is missing, it's C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT\updates.cab. Then it said I could install without it or exit setup so I exited and I'm not sure what I should do, can anyone help me?

If your Windows XP Home Edition includes SP1, then you must use
a Windows XP Pro CD that includes SP1.

It's easy to make a SP1 slipstreamed version of Windows XP.
I would suggest doing so in order to avoid installation issues.
