Hi guys. I called Microsoft today and they said this is
the way to do it so here I am. I have 3 major problems
that I really need someone to help me with, as follows:

1. I have two computers, both xp home edition. one, at
home, is main computer, where everything happens. My WORD
2000 is customized with hundreds of new menus, action
files, etc. Everything we do, is available in the menus.
The other computer is at my office. In this computer, I
copy everything I do to WORD at home, daily, and next
morning I update the office computer. However, these
worked ok until the office computer was changed from W98
to the present XP (I don't like XP). Now, I am unable to
find the word files in my computer, and to update I have
to overwrite every normal.dot I find in my computer at
the office, and still it won't work right. Can anyone
tell me where are the word files by default for
normal.dot and the autotext?

2. regarding the autotext, what I do in my home computer
is not the same I have in the office computer. Obviously
I'm skipping the autotext file in my daily back up, but
can't find it either. if anyone knows where it is, let me
know.

3. last, i'm thinking about upgrading from office 2000 to
office 2003 or 2004 if available. Will I lose all my
hundreds of customized items in my present Word?

Thanks everyone!

Julian,

Whew!!

Finding the Word files. A lot of system and files are hidden by defualt in
Windows XP.

Start>My Computer>Tools>Folder Options>View>Advanced Settings>Show Hidden
Files and Folders.

Where are files? Start Word. Tools>Options>File Locations.

Autotext Entries are stored in templates. See:
http://www.word.mvps.org/faqs/customization/WhatTemplatesStore.htm

Losing customizations. No worries. See:

FYI, Office 2003 is the most recent WinWord version--Office 2004 is the new
MacWord version.
