need help with win xp home edition

my windows xp home ed. is kiking me out of my desktop and putting me back at my log on screen. having problems staying in my desktop my gf can get in hers and stay in hers allday with no problems at all. we are working off the same computer and same harddrive. mine want let me stay in but for only aBOUT 2-3 SECONDS THEN IT KIKES ME BACK OUT TO MY LOG IN USER SCREEN.

Have you done some serious virus checking?
