I recently installed a new hard drive and decided to start with a
fresh install of XP Home on it. It installed ok, I updated it to the
latest version and everything went swimmingly for about a month. But
now, my CD drives no longer recognize when I put in a disk. Oh, they
spin and the lite goes on, but it won't Autorun any programs and the
volume label is always listed as the one that was in it when I booted
up. If I put a new disk in it and Explore it, the files display
properly, but the volume label is still the boot-time one. Also, when
I try to write some files to a blank CD through My Computer or
Explorer it will show the ghosted files waiting to be written, but
when I try to write them it tells me that there is not a disk in the
drive. I've gone into the drive properties both in My Computer and
System Properties but everything looks as it should.
I'd appreciate any help you guys can give me with this problem.
Thanks,
