i have a notebook with office pro 2002 can i completely uninstall
2002 from the desktop and do a clean install of 2003, which files do i
save in order to keep my current calendars, contacts, and emails?

Yes, if you uninstall Office 2002, you can do a clean install of
Office 2003.

The only file(s) that you'll need for all of your data are files that
have a .pst file extension. They're hidden files, so make certain that
you can view hidden files before trying to locate them.
