I set up a PC with a wireless network adapter (we'll call this connection1)
that connects to the internet. It has a built-in LAN adapter (connection2)
for ICS.

Everything seems to be set up correctly but when I try to access the
internet using IE, it always wants to connect to the internet using
connection2, instead of connection1. I can only access the internet when I
open IE after I disabled connection2.

Please help. I know I have configured something wrong somewhere.

How do you know that it's trying to connect to the Internet using
connection2?

Have you enabled Internet Connection Sharing? If so, it will connect
to the Internet using the connection that you've told it to share. Be
sure that you've enabled ICS on connection1.

Don't specify any manual TCP/IP settings for connection2. ICS will
configure it automatically with these settings:

IP Address: 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: none
DNS Server: none

If it has a default gateway specified, it will cause the problem that
you're having.

Thanks for your reply with suggestions Steve. I knew it was trying to
connect through connection2 because when IE opened, the connection2 icon in
the system tray was flashing.

Anyway, I got it to work by disabling both connections and running the ICS
wizard again.
