I have a disk I made with Nero 6. I no longer have Nero 6 on my computer.
When I put the disk in to open it ...I get a popup with: Adobe Reader cannot
open ' thefamilyofjohngeorgespeigner,i.pdf.nco' because it is not a
supported file type.
When I try to change the name of the file, the popup I get says: Can not
rename Files on this cd are read only.
How do I get this to open where I can read it?
Thanks,
Marsha

Copy the file from the CD. (If something tries to autoplay, hit cancel.)
Paste the file on your desktop.
Rename the file, changing the extension (sounds like you just need it to be
..pdf)
Pray that it works.

You'll need to reinstall Nero to decompress the Nero BackItUp Compressed
Backup File you are trying to open.

unfortunately the "nco" extension is a Nero Compressed backup ...you would
need Nero or another backup utility to be able to uncompress and read the
file.

File Type: Nero BackItUp File
Description: Compressed backup file created by Nero BackItup; contains
data to be backed up to a CD or DVD
Open With: Windows: Nero BackItUp (part of Nero 6 or later)

Thank you for the information. Rebecca, I can rename the file that way but
it still has the nco file name so that won't work. I appreciated you taking
the time to try to help me. Kurt, I believe you are correct in that I need
to install the Nero program. I have added the link you sent to my
favorites. Nero 6 came with my computer, but I had to replace the hard drive
and reinstall XP from the restore disks I received from emachines & the Nero
program had a missing file so it did not install. I will see about
purchasing the program when my funds allow it. At least I can recover the
information. I certainly hated to lose family line info. I appreciated the
help from each of you.

Check with Nero to see if you can downlaod a trial version, that way you
don't have to spend $xx just to recover that one file, unless you want the
program back.

Your welcome. And until you can afford it, you should be able to use
the demo version of Nero to decompress your file.
