I have a notebook computer running Windows XP Home. I can connect the
computer video output to my TV and see the same output on the TV as on
the computer screen.

Except that when I try to play a DVD on the TV, it shows on the
computer screen but not on the TV screen. All that shows on the TV
screen is a black rectangle area where the video should be showing.
The audio comes thru fine and the subtitles are visible, and the part
of the Windows Media Player not associated with the video also shows.
It seems to be just the video that does not show.

I can play the DVD on my regular computer running XP Pro with video
output to the TV and it plays fine. Also, I seem to remeber playing a
video to the same TV with the notebook sometime ago with no problems
but I am not sure of this. It could have been a different computer at
that time.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

We too have this problem - we ar trying to hook up our XP computer to our Tv via a s-video cable to enable us to play DVD's on the computer and watch on the Tv but seem to get the same problem as Gusto.
