Using W2K, IIS5, FP2000.

When I attempt to ADD connections to Tools>Database and then close the
dialog box, the additions disappear. I tried using File ans System settings,
but no go on either one. What's peculiar is that Verify works, when I go
back to Tools>Database it's empty. Global.asa does show the connections
exists.

I have looked at the Help Files,Services, Permissions, Script Settings, ect.
I switched from Virtual Directory and copied all files into inetpub/wwwroot,
still don't work. I have also reinstalled FP2000.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

1. Are you creating the web site directly on the server at http://localhost/subwebname or publishing
a disk-based web to http://localhost/subwebname

2. You must at all time open and work on the web / site directly at http://localhost/subwebname
after you have started working with as a server-based web.

3. Then you need to import the database into the open http://localhost/subwebname web via FP, and
when prompted, assign the connection name and allow FP to move the database to the fpdb folder.

4. Then you can check and verify your connection.

5. Under IIS MMC, select the web site (subwebname), right click, properties, then Home Directory
tab, at the bottom, Application, delete the application and then click, Create application.

6. Under IIS MMC, right click and select Check Extensions

7. Start and stop IIS.

8. Browse to page in IE at http://localhost/subwebname/pagename.asp

The site was constructed entirely with FP. The database is in fpdb already,
imported a long time ago. I was using a Virtual Dir. with PWM, worked fine
for many moons. I don't think I get the gist of "working on the site
directly". I moved the content of the Vir. Dir. to wwwroot today in an
attempt to fix the problem.
After designing the DB I imported it using FP. I have made all my DB data
updates in place. The old DB is no longer valid. If I import that, I know it
wont work. My connections were "File & Folder in Cur. Web". Used ODBC and
created System Data Source, no go.
I just did #5, from your reply and checked Extentions. Still no go.

What is PWM ?

Which version of Windows are you running?

If using Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP Pro, you can only have a single root web (localhost -
inetpub/wwwroot), and a unlimited number of subwebs/subsites.

The FP extensions do not support virtual directories.

A FP web/site always needs to be published from one location to another, never copied or moved in
any other manner, if you want it to work correctly.

Working directly means, that from within FP (File Menu | Open Site), you are opening the web via
http://localhost at all times.
