i got a school project to make a sheet to calculate a grade. we got a
sheet with 3 options "good, average and bad"
there are 17 questions and if you got all the questions good, then you
get the maximum points of 20. but if ya got 2/3 good then you only get
66% of the points. so that's 20 divided bij 3 and that times 2 right?
but i'm very confused about making this.

i really need some help of could anyone just make a real quick sheet
and send it to me?

I sure hope not. Unless they get credit for your course, that is...

I think there's something missing from your description - do the
"average" and "bad" grades do nothing at all?

One way to straighten your thinking might be to separate the %
correct and the determination of points:

1) The ratio of questions marked good to total questions will be

#good/17

If #good = 12, then the ratio = 12/17 which is about 0.6471 or
64.71%.

2) If you get 100% of the questions marked "good" then you get

100% * 20 points = 20 points.

A smaller percentage gets proportionally smaller number of points.

Just for info: Most readers of these newsgroups don't use
ExcelForum, so would have no idea what your profile was.
