Need Help printer won't work

I have a hewlett packard deskjet 812c printer the third
lite saying ink cardtridge keeps blinking and won't let
me print. I put a new one in and it still doesn't work.
can anyone help me?

perhaps you need paper in the paper tray is one sugesstion
