Hello all,

My system crashed a couple of days ago. I've been going through a
recovery process to get the latest data from the drive. Yes, I do
have a backup, but it's not quite up to date (3 weeks old). There's
been a lot of updates to my contacts and my saved email folders.

I'd like to know what the filenames for contacts and email folders
are, along with which folders on the hard drive they are stored in.

I'm using MS Outlook Pro 2003. I'm assuming its a .PST file.

Thanks so much,

Bill

All your folders in Outlook (Contacts, Inbox, etc.) are all stored in one
..pst file; they don't use individual files for each folder. However, you can
have multiple .pst files that each contain their own folders.

By default, .pst files you create are stored in a special directory unless
you change the location when you first set them up:

C:\Documents and Settings\YOURWINDOWSUSERNAME\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\MYPSTNAME.pst

So check that directory first. If you don't find any .pst files there, use
search in Windows Explorer to search for *.pst files (make sure you turn on
searching through hidden files and folders).

If you have any further problems with general Outlook functionality, please
post in the approproate microsoft.public.outlook group (this forum is
specifically for programming issues).
