Had a friend make me a computer over the summer. Been
having problems with Windows XP Professional. Maybe it is
a pirated copy??? Don't know. Anyway I went out today and
bought for $160.00 CDN the Windows Home Ed Upgrade (green
box) kit. Put the CD in the computer and XP boots up.
Says that I can not install the new licensed Upgrade that
I bought beacuse that XP Pro says someting "does not has
supported version to install". Is there anyway to get rid
of this XP Pro that he put on and put my new licenced
copy on????? If not I am out 160.00. Not real good with
computers. Thanks everyone.

One cannot install XP Home over XP Pro. A reformat of the
drive and "clean install" of XP Home is required.

If you have the upgrade version, keep in mind that at some point you're
going to have to show it a previous operation system to upgrade from.

You wont be able to upgrade Pro to Home. What you can do is clean install
as mentioned but you will need a previous retail CD of another Microsoft OS
(windows 98, 2000, etc) to enable the installation to complete. If you do
not have a qualifying product then return your copy and purchase a full copy
of the OS. Curious though, what kind of problems were you having that makes
you think that this was a pirated copy?

Or copy and paste into the Address Bar in IE. No need to type anything.
