Need Help (confused)

Hello
I nrdd some help to try and figure out why when I click on tools,
bookmarks, view,Help,etc. all the titles on the top bar on a page it sends me
back to desktop. Can anyone help please?

In what application?
I thought IE - but "bookmarks" is not something IE has ever used.

I am using Internet Explorer with Windows XP. When I click on anything in
that bar for example, File, Edit ,Tools View, Bookmarks etc. I can't get to
that particular application, it sends me right back to desktop. Let me back
up alittle, when I am on my homepage then click for example tools, thats when
it sends me back to desktop. Any help

As I understand what the OP posted, the problem occurs when he is using IE.
The problem is that trying to access any of the menu items in IE (File,
Edit, etc.), IE crashes and returns him to the desktop.

The first thing that comes to mind is malware. The OP needs to make certain
that his computer is free of that stuff before going any further.

But how?

Does it close IE?
Does it minimise IE?
What happens when other programs are open at the same time, and
maximised (i.e. "behind" IE) - does it still show the desktop, or one
of the programs "behind" IE?

I was just on the page so I can reply to the post, For the heck of it I
clocked on TOOLS and it sent me to a previous page. If I am on my home page
and click on tools it will send me back to my desktop.Same goes for any of
the items on that bar(I don't know what you call it). If i CLICK ON ANY OF
THEM IT SEEMS TO SEND ME BACK TO PREVIOUS PAGE RATHER THAN OPENING UP. i
DON'T KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN IT ANY BETTER. pLEASE HELP WITH THE INFO. THAT i
HAVE GIVEN. i HOPE IT IS ENOUGH. Sorry for the cap. letters, I forgot the
caplocks was on
